Captain Franklin Chronicles 8 - Bosom Mate Evenson Log

Day 91

After only a few days aboard of the Autonomous Schooner it seems we have been here forever. It is astonishing how quickly does a person get used to having a full belly and a warm cot to sleep upon.

Day 87

The Palermo long gone, dreams of sandy beaches in the last remaining western colony vanished. This, is what Bosom Mate Evenson and I have to contend with.

Household Alchemy - Cutting corners and eliminating chemicals in your household

Here in North America we live in a "nanny society." Everything we do and everything we use must be vetted by the appropriate governmental body and approved by the correct board.

It wasn't always this way.

Harness the power of your shyness

Shyness is an emotion that affects how a person feels and behaves around others. Shyness can mean feeling uncomfortable, self-conscious, nervous, bashful, timid, or insecure. People who feel shy sometimes notice physical sensations like blushing or feeling speechless, shaky, or breathless.

The art of shifting perspectives

Most people view the world in a customary fashion never allowing their perception to expand or even shift for a time. It is an interesting exercise to allow your perception to shift to someone else’s point of view, or even becoming the “fly on the wall” and attempting to observe the situation without a personal, emotional charge.

Achieve deep satisfaction with your life

They asked me, what is success?

My instant response was “A feeling of deep satisfaction with where I am and who I am in the world today.”

Can't we just agree to disagree?

Is it a requirement for us to agree on everything in order to be friends?

Do we absolutely have to be in lockstep with each other in order to learn from each other? I say NAY!

Don’t be a cannibal

This article was inspired by insects, but it goes deeper than that…  there are real gems hidden within, just keep reading.

I used to be an extrovert.

Day 86,

The unthinkable happened... One minute we were sleeping in the raft the next all was fire and water as a tremendous lightening struck our little makeshift sail.

The curse of a loveless divorce

As a result of a conversation I had earlier today I decided to post this article I wrote years ago. It was published in the online Alternative Choice Health and Wellness Magazine back in 2011.

Day 84,

Captain Franklin and I are still shipwrecked somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic.

Day 81,

Nary a ship in sight, it is quite surprising how long the supplies are lasting us. If I’m not mistaken I do believe we could last another 300 days with what I termed a “meager” supply cache.

Day 72,

This has taken too long... Become a sailor, they said... you will see tropical countries, they said.... exotic ports, they said. Bollocks I say! Bollocks.

Captain Franklin Chronicles 2 - Still Shipwrecked and drifting

Day 65,

Bosom Mate Evenson was up having nightmares all night, I feel as if the solitude of our predicament is finally breaking her spirits.

Captain Franklin Chronicles 1 - Shipwrecked and drifting

Day 52, we are still adrift in this sea of uncertainty. Supplies are running increasingly low, morale is at its lowest. Bosom Mate Evenson and I are the only survivors of the sinking of our great ship, The Palermo.

Causes and lessons

Because they flew us out to Bermuda, put us up in a nice hotel, showed us the office... They told us that they have been looking for someone to fill this position for over a year... We had no reason to doubt.

Daring dreams and dashed hopes

For the last couple of months I have been keeping a diary of observations. It all started with an accidental murder of my beloved pet... but more about that in another entry.
